Hanks, Steve Hanks, Steve - Steve Hanks prefers watercolor for his realistic portrayals of women and children. His paintings display a great sensitivity and mastery of form. Hanks spent his childhood on the coast of California. His inspiration to paint developed after the family moved to New Mexico. In the 60's he returned to California to attend the University of Califonia, at Berkeley. Later he attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco and graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. He has ranked by U.S. Art as one of the top artist's for several years. More than 170 of his paintings are included in his book, "Poised Between Hearbeats." The book has been acclaimed by critics and collectors alike.
